The Mysore Palace, once the residence of the royal family of Mysore, stands as a stunning exemplar of Indo-Saracenic architecture. Constructed in 1912 for the 24th ruler of the Wodeyar Dynasty, this palace remains one of the largest and most impressive in India. Its grandeur and architectural beauty make it a prominent and highly popular tourist attraction, drawing visitors from across the globe to admire its rich history and opulent design. Each evening, the palace is transformed into a dazzling spectacle as approximately 97,000 lights adorn its facade, casting a brilliant glow that highlights the palace’s architectural splendor and draws visitors from near and far.
Mysuru Palace was built in the early 14th century by the royal family of Wodeyars. Mysuru palace was originally built in wood and was destroyed once by lightning (in 1638 AD), by Tipu Sultan (in 1739 AD), and once again by fire in 1897 AD. Current Mysuru Palace is the fourth reconstruction, completed in 1912 and designed by British architect, Henry Irwin.
